Cold Turkey

After addressing patients’ various health conditions for over two decades, I have found that so many health problems can be traced back to poor diet. Poor diet causes inflammation in the body. This leads to many ills. America’s poor eating habits are leading to unprecedented obesity and an explosion of diet-related conditions, in adults as well as children, including diabetes, thyroid problems, heart disease, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Going “Cold Turkey” might be the most effective solution.

Crisis State

These health conditions are typically treated by taking a variety of medications. This, at best, only manages the body’s disease, instead of addressing the root cause of most of these problems. This pharmaceutical “solution” not only endangers the individual but also puts our country on a fiscally unsustainable path towards bankruptcy. Study after study demonstrates that obesity-related healthcare costs are staggering and getting worse.

This estimated cost of healthcare does not take into account the financial toll of indirect costs. These include employee absenteeism, loss of productivity, and higher insurance rates, which are already out of control. There is also an enormous human cost: illness, shortened life span, loss of wages, loss of quality of life, and the collateral impact on families.

My Father’s Journey

My father always struggled with his weight since he was young. He was 5’11”, and at his heaviest was 220 lbs. He worked from early morning until late night, drinking 12 cups of “high test” coffee a day. This was partnered with poor eating habits. All this, combined with a lack of exercise were probably significant contributing factors to his diagnosis of stomach cancer when he was in his mid 40’s.

That diagnosis changed him, and me, forever. My father was motivated to live. He decided to reform his ways, dramatically. As a patient of a Chinese medicine doctor, he learned about the latest nutrition information. He went “cold turkey” and eliminated certain foods from his diet completely – changing his mindset and life forever!

Shut Down Cravings

Cutting out certain foods can help the brain to adjust its thinking of what foods the body actually needs and doesn’t necessarily need. Your body needs nutrients but doesn’t need sugars, additives, other chemicals, etc. Substances like sugar create chemical changes in the brain and are highly addictive. When you have some, you crave more. This makes it almost impossible to control the cravings. Quitting these foods “cold turkey” may be the kick-start to your health revelation, helping you to achieve your health goals.

I recommend to our clients wanting to change their lives by changing their nutrition that they do it “cold turkey”. Our dieters, some of who have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type II diabetes, fatty liver, thyroid issues, etc., who want to prevent these diseases, do best when they go “cold turkey”. We have helped people lose thousands of pounds. By limiting carbohydrate/sugar intake to only essential carbs, primarily from vegetables and low glycemic index fruit, most people quickly conquer their cravings, allowing them to make great strides in their loss of body fat.

Have some “cold turkey” in your diet today.
